Bello Amancer Week 33

Well this week was a week!  It was my birthday last week. Weird, but it was cool and a crazy day. I want to start by saying I miss everyone and hope everyone is going great. Anyway, for this week I had a lot experiences. So, first for my birthday I was woken up to an egg to my face haha. It’s the tradition here to get egged on your birthday. During the day we went to a new part of our area called, “hobo land,” because everyone that lives there are like hobos and their house are bags. The people were cool but I got attacked by a dog. It ripped my pants but don’t worry I didn’t get bitten!  For dinner we ate pizza with a family that we’re really close with and I got egged again. Also something cool is that Bryan bought me an awesome shirt but its tiny, haha. And then yes, he egged me again. I went through 3 shirts in one day and two ties!!!

Well anyway this week was great for work. We baptized Bryan’s sister this week. Also two new Elders needed my help getting two investigators baptized. This new companionship had a little boy named Martin. He was really scared and didn’t want to go to get baptized. One of the Elders made him mad and he told him he wasn’t going to get baptized because he made him mad. It was funny and maybe this was really bad but he was crying so, we gave him a chocolate and he stopped crying. He still wasn’t feeling like getting baptized so, I told him a story. I felt the story of Nephi was perfect to tell him because he is the youngest and the rest of his family is not baptized. I told him how Nephi was a great leader and was the youngest and like Nephi he had the opportunity right now to be baptized and follow the example of Christ and be an example to the rest of his family. He was happy and he was baptized that day. It was a cool experience.

Anyway, love you guys, love you mom be safe=) praying for all you guys everyday!!!

Bello Amancer Week 32

Hey everyone! Today I thought I would take time to share a more spiritual experience with you. The past couple of weeks I have talked a lot about Bryan. Today I’m going to go into depth about him. So, one day we were contacting houses, when my companion said he had a reference that lived near by. So, we went to the house to look for a woman named Pala. At the door we were greeted by a 14-year-old boy who was half naked and only had boxers on. You could tell this kid had a drinking problem but he was sober enough to understand. When he told us she was not home my companion told him goodbye. But, I had the feeling to talk to him more. I found out that he loved fixing bikes, skate boarding, and talking to girls. Anyway, I programed another meeting with him for the next week. The 2nd meeting we had with him went great and we even got to meet his Mom and two sisters. It turns out his Mom is a member, but when she was 9 her family left the church. She doesn’t recall the reason why. We talked to them and the sister said she wanted to investigate the church a little bit. So, we worked with them all and helped Bryan to stop drinking, the mom to come back to the church, and the sister named Helen to learn more. This last week we met the Dad. He is a strong Catholic man. Anyway, this last Tuesday my companion was supposed to get permission to baptize them. (He was with a member working, while I was working in a different area with two new Elders in my district.) Something told me to go back to my area. I don’t know why but something told me go back. So, I went back to my area. When I got to the house my companion was sitting there sad but kind of scared looking. I asked him what’s up and he said the Dad said no, and that Bryan couldn’t be baptized. He told me he thought it would be better if I tried talking with him. So, I talked with the Dad. It’s hard to describe but my words were made clearer and my voice felt more powerful. I explained to him why I’m here. I told him that I was not from here and that I live millions of miles away and I’m 18. I left home for my mission because I knew the importance of families. I told him that because of Jesus Christ and baptism we could enter in the kingdom of God and live together forever. After he gave us permission and Bryan was baptized this week.
I know that what Nephi 3:7 says is true and the things that He wants us to accomplish He will prepare away. I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon I know its true.

LOVE YOU GUYS! Be safe talk to you guys next week!!!!

Nephi 3:7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

Eric clarified in his Dad’s letter a couple of weeks ago that the yearly mission goal for baptisms is 1600. (Not the monthly goal.)

Today we played baseball

Bello Amanecer Week 31

Well it’s your friendly neighborhood Elder Hironaka haha. Well I have a lot to report on this week haha. THIS WAS THE WEEK OF CHANGES!!!!!

I want to start out by saying I love everyone and miss everyone so much and hope everything is going great. Its weird to see how fast this is going but it also feels like time back home is going even faster. It’s fun to see the progress of everyone.

Anyway, well changes... I’m not training I’m still with my companion which is good and bad haha, but I’ll talk about that a little later. The only news I received this last week was that I’m the new DL in a new district. The other thing that is also a little stressful is that it is one of the biggest districts in the mission with 8 people. So yes, it’s a little stressful but is fun and I’m learning a lot fast. This week I had to talk to lawyers about divorces, lead the ward correlation meeting, and plan a wedding, all for other Elders in my district. Fun, but a lot of work.

I’m happy to say I’m also going to have one baptism this week and next week. It’s been super cool getting to know this family. The Mom is a member but when she was 9 her dad made her leave the church. I remember the first time I talked to her she told me she had been waiting for the Elders to come to her house to teach her and her family. So, this week her son Bryan will get baptized. I can’t wait to send pictures about that.

Renaldo is the other man we are teaching right now. He is the most interesting investigator I have ever had. He has been apart of every religion. He knows so much about the scriptures it’s crazy. A funny story is that he was a Jehovah witness but they didn’t like his questions he had for them so they told him that he couldn’t ever come back to their church. But he likes our church and I think we will baptize him with time.

Well, I said my companion didn’t have changes, right. Well I’m going to explain why this is good and bad. It’s good because I think it would be hard to be a new DL with a new guy who I would have to train. So I’m happy he is here in that sense. The thing that is bad is that he is staring to be a little bit lazier. And he is still really scared to express himself. I guess that something my mission has really started to teach me is that if you want to be successful you need to always be confident. I think that is something that will really help me in my life.

OK funny story time.  This week we were teaching this family and my companion as a joke said, “give some chocolate milk,” to the little girl who was 4 years old. Anyways she said, “NO” and ran off and about 10 minutes later she came back with a big glass of chocolate milk and said here drink. So, my companion took the chocolate milk a started drinking when all of the sudden he spit the milk everywhere! He said what is this and the little girl stared laughing and said it’s my brother’s milk. Her brother is a baby. HAHA my companion drank breast milk hahahahhaha....

Anyways that was the fun story. Mom I wanted to say I love you and please be safe, ok! I LOVE YOU!!!!!

1) What do you like most about Nicaragua? Teaching the Gospel
2) The Nica. North missionary mom's are talking about their missionaries running out of Book of Mormons. (My email group) Is that happening to you? Not any more!!=)

Bello Amanecer Week 30

Good afternoon, it’s your favorite missionary haha. Wow this was a fast week and I thought about you guys a lot. It was different New Years in a new country. HAPPY NEW YEARS!

We have a new investigator named Brian. He is really chill and it’s been cool to talk with him and to see his progress as an investigator. Something cool is he has a talking Parrot. Its funny because it speaks Spanish haha! Anyway his family also has a rabbit, 5 cats, and 2 dogs! Lets just say it’s a fun time when we teach him.

The second person we have to teach is Fidel. He is cool and he knows everything about the church but he has a smoking problem. I know I am going to baptize this guy. He lives 7 miles away and everyday I make my companion walk 7 miles to visit him. If I don’t visit him, he forgets he can’t smoke and he smokes. The other thing that is cool I guess is that he was a professional smoker. Yes, they have contest here. He can do tricks and everything. But I’m going to baptize him I just know it! The other thing that is cruel is that next to his house is a chicken and dog-fighting ring. Pretty crazy. Right?

Ok so I do love food and know I can eat like almost anything as long as it’s cooked. I have eaten cow heart, chicken heart, pig, goat face, and more. HAHA! This week I told a member I want something tasty but different. Well I got different. I ate cow’s tongue. It was great but I had to get the idea out of my head that I was eating cow tongue! That is my crazy story for this week.

I want to also say that after my mission I’m going to play a sport.  There is no doubt in my mind I’m going to play football or rugby.

My new breakfast is hard boiled eggs, so, I get my protein. Workouts are great by the way. I can jump rope forever now.

Guess what?  I’m teaching an English class.
Please be safe. I miss you a lot. I LOVE you!

1) Last week I asked you what was the monthly mission goal for baptisms and you answered 1600.  Did you mean 160? A) Nope
2) What are the Sister missionaries like in the mission? A) Cool
3) Were you sad and home sick on Christmas? A) A little
4) You mentioned that you want to serve in Blue fields. I have looked it up on the map and it looks scary. A lot of drugs supposedly go through there. A) I want to go there so bad. It’s safer than here. I am super safe by the way, Mom
5) Do you think you will be transferred? No, I don’t think I will be transferred
6) Do you think that you and Elder Bennett will ever have a shot at being companions? A) I doubt it. But that would be a dream!

Guess what I ate?

After it was cooked!
